America’s First Islamic Tribunal In North Texas

2 Timothy 3:1-8 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

The first Islamic tribunal is now hearing cases and issuing rulings in North Texas.

The “court” is located in Irving, Texas and is being used to settle disputes between Muslims such as divorces and business disputes using Sharia Law rather than U.S. law as the basis for their decisions.

The judges claim that their decisions are nothing more than giving an “Islamic point of view” to situations that they are facing in their lives and participation is voluntary.  The three men who run the tribunal say that they do not handle anything that involves criminal activity.

“All our decisions point back to the Koran and Sunna … and what the prophet Mohammed left to us,” Dr. Taher el-Badawi, Islamic Tribunal judge, told KEYE TV.

The restriction to not handle criminal cases allows the tribunal to avoid having to issue any rulings on situations where the Quran calls for stoning if someone commits adultery or the subjugation of women.

Critics say that the “court” sets a dangerous precedent and fear that would allow other foreign groups to use foreign law.

  1. I agree with Shawn, this islamic tribunal being allowed is setting a dangerous precedent. Not only because our laws override another foreign law used in this country but because of how the muslim thinks and feels about their sharia law. They are a rebellious bunch and like to believe they are not under any law of the land they live in. Every other person who comes here is told they must abide by our form of law, they should be no different. Not one other religious denominations in our country would be allowed to exert domination over the law of the land (after all what happened to “devision between church and state”?)the ACLU has hammered us with that.

  2. This form of court should never be allowed in America. Who has allowed this here in our land. All judgment should be done by American court. This federal government and local government cannot allow an new form of judgement practices that isn’t even recognized as law to exist In America where Jesus is truth. Islam is a belief in A non existent god.
