A new report in the New York Times says that homeless children in New York City have reached the highest level since the Great Depression.
The report shows a pattern in New York of rents rising while low-income wages such as jobs with fast food restaurants have stagnated making it impossible for many one-parent families to be able to afford a place to live.
However, at least two-thirds of the homeless children in New York do not have a working parent in their family and many of those children have parents addicted to drugs or alcohol.
The waiting list for public housing in the city has close to 250,000 people according to the Times report. The number of poor in the city has risen to the level that almost half of those in the city are living at or below the poverty line.
New York is not the only city dealing with a problem concerning homeless children. The United States is has the second highest rate of child poverty in any developed nation, behind only Romania.
The jobs are gone . I live in east Tennessee , we had factories that made things , now nothing . The few jobs that are around here will not hire you if the computer test says your too honest . I tried to go back to a job after my youngest went to school . The manager said I need you I know you work hard and don’t complain and take care of the restaurant , but I cant hire you because the computer says your too honest and willing to work !
So many people are on drugs, mental illness, and so many unskilled, way to many people depending on the state to take care of them, and some just refuse to work. This picture shows that the ones you think is on welfare are not, take a look at what the people they show look like. And here in this country that worship actors and lame people like the Kardashians and other idiots, while the rest of the world is going to hell in a hand basket. So many people who carry hate in there hearts and treat other people badly, while killing them selves to get a tan so they can look like the people that they hate. SAD PEOPLE.
