Nigeria Declares State of Emergency Due To Islamist Attacks

Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).

The president of Nigeria has declared a state of emergency in three of the country’s states after assaults from Islamic terrorists.

President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the military to be sent to Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states to take “all necessary action” to eliminate the terrorist threat in the region.

Boko Haram has been behind most of the violence in the region as they continue to attempt an overthrow of the government.

“What we are facing is not just militancy or criminality, but a rebellion and insurgency by terrorist groups which pose a very serious threat to national unity and territorial integrity,” Jonathan said in a recorded statement. “We will hunt them down, we will fish them out, and we will bring them to justice.”

The governors of the three imperiled states have completely backed the president’s actions.

In Tuesday’s terrorist attack by Boko Haram, 53 people were killed and 13 villages burned to the ground.
