Five Killed In Columbian Landslide

A landslide in the exact location of a previous landslide has killed 5 people and left 25 others missing near Neiva, Columbia.

Columbian officials say at least six cars have been trapped under the tons of mud and rocks. The landslide killed a heavy machine operator who had been clearing debris from a previous landslide caused by an earthquake in the area. Continue reading

Columbia Dodges Bullet In Large Earthquake

The most significant earthquake to strike Columbia since 2004 was deep enough underground to avoid causing catastrophic damage according to the US Geological Survey reports. The 7.3 quake centered at an underground depth of 94 miles.

The quake reportedly shook the ground for a full minute and was felt in most of the country. There were reports of shaking in Quito, Equador almost 200 miles from the quake’s epicenter near Popayan. Continue reading

Columbian Volcano Eruption Imminent

Columbia’s Nevado del Ruiz volcano is “days or weeks” from erupting according to the Volcanic Observatory in Manizales, Columbia.

Smoke and ash is rising out of the volcano just days after an “orange alert” was issued leading to at least 150 families being evacuated from along rivers that flow down the mountain. Continue reading
