Cashless society getting closer, survey finds

By Jeremy Gaunt
LONDON (Reuters) – More than a third of Europeans and Americans would be happy to go without cash and rely on electronic forms of payment if they could, and at least 20 percent already pretty much do so, a study showed on Wednesday.
The study, which was conducted in 13 European countries, the United States and Australia, also found that in many places where cash is most used, people are among the keenest to ditch it.
Overall, 34 percent of respondents in Europe and 38 percent in the United States said they would be willing to go cash-free, according to the survey conducted by Ipsos for the ING bank website eZonomics.
Twenty-one percent and 34 percent in Europe and the United States, respectively, said they already rarely use cash.
The trend was also clear. More than half of the European respondents said they had used less cash in the past 12 months than previously and 78 percent said they expected to use it even less over the coming 12 months.
Ian Bright, managing director of group research for ING wholesale banking, said he did not believe people would quit cash entirely, but the direction was obvious.
“More and more people will end up with a situation where they can quite comfortably get by for two days, three days, four days, even a week, without ever using cash,” he told Reuters Television.
Payment systems such as contactless cards and mobile-phone digital wallets have become so prevalent the issue has become political in some countries.
Cash-loving Germans, for example, have been concerned that a move by the European Central Bank to phase out the 500 euro note by the end of next year is the start of a slippery slope.
Germany is one of the countries that uses cash the most. The ING survey showed only 10 percent of Germans saying they rarely use cash, compared, for example, with 33 percent and 35 percent, respectively, in neighbors Poland and France.
The survey also showed that, in general, countries where cash is much in use were most likely to want to go cashless.
Only 19 percent of Italians said they rarely used cash but 41 percent said they would be willing to go cash. There was a similar trend in Turkey, Romania, the Czech Republic, Spain and even Germany.

Philip Cameron sees a Holy Revival in America

By Kami Klein
Last night Philip Cameron and the worship team lifted spirits and joyfully shouted hope for a Holy revival like no one has ever seen before! The Morningside Restoration Marathon is continuing on Grace Street and the outpouring of love and in the belief of this ministry is inspiring.
“God is raising up people RIGHT NOW who aren’t necessarily religious but hungry for GOD!” Cameron declared!
America does need revival and what many are experiencing and seeing around the world is the the embracing of Jesus and of God’s Word. Our partners are writing in and expressing this new hope for our country and the gentle courage to build up the Church. During this Morningside Restoration Marathon, not only are the people working together for a common purpose, they are doing so with faith.
Faith is what Philip Cameron spoke of last night during the evening Praise service. “Ridiculous Faith that will bring a mighty pouring of the Holy Spirit!”
Philip recalled the path and restoration of Pastor Jim Bakker and how the Lord has walked with him in his obedience. The amazing things that happened at Heritage, the people whose lives were changed in deep and profound ways, and the loving Christian family that was created there by the thousands who visited from all over the world.
“I am family here at Morningside too. We are family and you are a part of this family too! I invite you to be a part of this ridiculous faith that can move mountains. I see a revival happening here, a 24 hour a day revival with God’s mighty hand and love pouring out to America! If anyone can get a 24 hour a day revival going it would be Jim Bakker! He is crazy enough in faith to do it! This nation needs to be shaken from DC to Sacramento! “
We are family here at Morningside! We are READY to take this message of the love and mercy of Jesus Christ and continue spreading it as far as God allows! We need your help to make that possible!
Please consider a Thanksgiving donation. Help us get this revival moving! And don’t forget to keep watching our Restoration Marathon for more testimonies, fellowship and celebration for God’s incredible hand on you and on our ministry!

Know the Platforms and VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

By Kami Klein
Today, in the few hours of a single day, the United States will know the outcome of one of the most pivotal and historical Presidential votes in our 240 year history.
This has been an election year where the polls are in a frantic debate over who is really ahead and mud slinging is at an all time high. Even the most uninformed voter knows that the stakes are high for deciding what direction the American people are wishing for this country to go. We have been torn apart, friendships threatened, and voices raised for a very long time.
Electing a President is not all about the character of the person, or who you want to listen to for four years. What we must remember is we are voting on a platform of ideas and beliefs for what is best for U.S., the American people! We will have a say on what we personally, in our own hearts and from our own experiences, feel is best to answer the the current problems and challenges.
Maybe you don’t know the platforms. Unfortunately, in all of the rhetoric and the passion from both sides, the ideas and policies each candidate wishes to lead for a new America has been shrouded in a fog. What is the Democratic Platform? Do their beliefs match yours? What ideas will the Republican Platform put forth in answer to the many problems facing this nation? Your faith and your lifetime of experience matters.
I have heard a few people say that they don’t like either of the candidates. They don’t like them at all so they just won’t vote. They think their inaction will make a statement to the nation that ‘hey, we just don’t like those candidates, what do you think about that?’. Unfortunately, history has shown that not voting will mean nothing to your leaders. You have decided not to count. And you won’t.
No matter where you live or what your circumstances are, you MUST realize that deep down you know what you believe. You have those gut feelings telling you what you believe. You know when something doesn’t sit right with you, and you know when it feels right. What I am telling you is that how you feel will be counted in the vote unless you wish to remain silent.
Not voting is akin to surrender. We do not have the luxury of surrender with all that is going on in this country and in this world. Be brave, be informed, and get to know what it is that these candidates are representing. Vote! Please vote!
Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “ Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.”
DO NOT SURRENDER!! Please study the platforms and VOTE!

9/11: In the Face of Evil, the Best of Humanity

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, one of the worst terror attacks in our nation’s history, nearly 3,000 lives were erased, 6,000 people injured, and our world as we knew it not only changed, but shifted. Americans trembled as we watched our feelings of safety and security crumble to the ground. Before that day, the thought of terrorism taking place in the United States seemed unfathomable.
As our faith was shaken and our spirits shattered, we turned to God. We gathered together, filling churches across the world. We prayed together, grieved together, and found comfort in God’s love. The flag was honored again, and we stood together as One Nation Under God, ready to defend the United States with everything we had. The lessons from that day are embedded in history and in our hearts. But sadly, the churches are not filled as they used to be and our patriotism has weakened.
On September 11th, 2001 we witnessed the worst of humanity and also the very best. After the attacks, countless stories unfolded revealing extraordinary acts of courage, sacrifice, kindness, and compassion.
The crew on board the hijacked aircraft, who in the carnage and terror, found a way to communicate what had happened and gave valuable information to the authorities.
The husbands and wives who called their spouses and families from the towers, telling them goodbye. They then began helping others escape, leading them to the stairwell, calmly reassuring them, going back for more, and in the end, losing their own lives.
The 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 paramedics that gave their lives to selflessly help others to safety.
The heroes at the Pentagon who pulled victims out, as they felt the heat and flames burning at their backs but never gave up.
The crew and passengers of Flight 93 that crashed down in a field in rural Pennsylvania, never reaching its intended target because they fought back against the terrorists.
The hundreds of people who protected total strangers, giving their own shirts off their backs to cover victims mouths so that they could breathe through the cloud of deadly dust.
Today, we remember The unknown stories of the families and friends who lost someone they loved and had the courage to put their lives back together with dignity, hope and faith in God.
Genesis 50:20 But as for you, you intended to harm me, but God intended it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many lives.
We must begin to fill our churches again. We cannot allow terrorism around the world to dismantle our faith.
Please take a moment to pray today. Pray for the families of the victims that we lost on that tragic day.
Pray for the heroes of 9/11 and our military men and women who continue in the fight against terrorism and abroad.
On this sad day, ALWAYS remember that God will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER leave you and He will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER forsake you. -Deuteronomy 31:6
God Bless America.
Republicans, Democrats sharply divided over Muslims in America

By Emily Flitter and Chris Kahn
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Many Americans view Islam unfavorably, and supporters of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are more than twice as likely to view the religion negatively as those backing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to a Reuters/Ipsos online poll of more than 7,000 Americans.
It shows that 37 percent of American adults have a “somewhat unfavorable” or “very unfavorable” view of Islam. This includes 58 percent of Trump supporters and 24 percent of Clinton supporters, a contrast largely mirrored by the breakdown between Republicans and Democrats.
By comparison, respondents overall had an equally unfavorable view of atheism at 38 percent, compared with 21 percent for Hinduism, 16 percent for Judaism and 8 percent for Christianity.
Spokespeople for Trump and Clinton declined to comment.
The poll took place before an attacker on Thursday drove his truck into a holiday crowd in Nice, France, killing more than 80 people in what President Francois Hollande called a terrorist act. Police sources said the driver, while linked to common crimes, was not on a watch list of intelligence services and no Islamist militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The race for the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election has put a spotlight on Americans’ views of Muslims with Trump proposing a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States. He repeated the proposal after Omar Mateen, a New York-born Muslim armed with an assault rifle, killed 49 people in an attack on a Florida gay nightclub last month.
The ideological divide between Trump and Clinton supporters is set against a backdrop of increasing violence and discrimination against Muslims in the United States.
The poll shows 78 percent of Trump supporters and 36 percent of Clinton supporters said that when compared to other religions, Islam was more likely to encourage acts of terrorism. Trump supporters were also about twice as likely as Clinton supporters to say that Islam was more encouraging of violence toward Americans, women and gay people. Polling on none of the other belief systems and their perceived connection to terrorism or violence came close to matching those numbers.
Clinton has called for a more inclusive environment within American society and for a joint effort between the U.S. government and Muslim countries to battle the spread of Islamist militancy.
She has criticized Trump’s harsh statements about Muslims and Mexicans while Trump has bemoaned what he calls American society’s devotion to political correctness.
TRUMP, REPUBLICANS ALIGNED
Party affiliation accounted for the deepest division among Americans where their views on Muslims were concerned. Respondents’ status as rich or poor, young or old, or male or female did not offer as pronounced an overall view as did their identification as Democrats or Republicans.
“If it was true that Trump did not represent Republicans broadly defined, you would think Republicans would look different; they don’t,” said Douglas McAdam, a sociology professor at Stanford University who studies American politics.
“It goes against the claims of the (former presidential candidate) Mitt Romneys of the world, that Trump is not really a Republican, that he doesn’t represent the Republican party. He seems to be resonating with Republicans generally.”
According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group, attacks on American Muslims and on mosques in the United States rose in 2015 to their highest level ever recorded.
The group said 31 incidents of damage or destruction of mosques were reported; there were 11 incidents in which a Muslim person was the target of a slur or another kind of harassment.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll ran in all 50 states from June 14 to July 6. It included 7,473 American adults and has a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 1 percentage point.
